1. What is "SAKURA" Wine Awards?

We welcome all new comers who have not heard of "SAKURA" Japan Women's Wine Awards.
"Sakura" Japan Women’s Wine Awards, the largest competition in Japan, is chaired by Yumi Tanabe, wine educator and writer.

The judges consist of Japanese women selected from among profound wine specialists including sommeliers, winemakers, wine educators, wine journalists, distributors, retailers, and buyers. On our fourth year, we had 4,212 wines registered.
Compared to 1,922 items in the first year (2014), it has shown considerable growth.
They were judged under strict supervision by 406 judges.
The idea of evaluating wine by female judges set a new guideline and will consequently energize the wine industry in Japan.
