2. The chairperson, Yumi Tanabe was conferered the title by AEVP

On May 22th in Tokyo, Japan, the ceremony of Confraria of Port Wine, which is a traditional order in Portugal, was held by AEVP(Association of Port Wine Companies).
At the ceremony, Ms. Yumi Tanabe, the chair of “ SAKURA” Wine Awards was selected as one of the new member of the order and was confered the medal of Infancao(Nobleman).

Confraria of Port Wine
Confraria of Port Wine was estabilished in 1982 to promote and consolidate the world-wide reputation of Port Wine. The confraria welcomes into its midst persons who carry out a professional activity in the commerce and export managers in the wine market.   

“ SAKURA” Wine Awards has reached the 5th year.
We appreaciate that“ SAKURA” Wine Awards received such a wonderful recognition at this turning point.
We continue to make further effort to dedicate into the wine market in the world.

3. What is “ SAKURA” Wine Awards?

We welcome all newcomers who have not heard of “SAKURA” Japan Women’s Wine Awards!

“Sakura” Japan Women’s Wine Awards, the largest competition in Japan, is chaired 
by Yumi Tanabe, wine educator and writer. The judges consist of Japanese women selected 
from among profound wine specialists including sommeliers, winemakers, wine educators,
wine journalists, distributors, retailers, and buyers.The idea of evaluating wine by
female judges set a new guideline and will consequently energize the wine industry in Japan.

  • “SAKURA” Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2018 in numbers
    -4,232 items were registered.  
     -33 countries' wineries participated.
     -510 female judges made the score by blind tasting.
